Wonder Music

Where else than Lonie Walker’s Underground, and wonder underground don’t come easy.

Getting burnt on Clark Street, Lonie and her crew, incredibly enough, flipped in under "The Joynt", at 650 N. Dearborn, without missing a beat.

Tracey and Fred (I’m Fred), bussed to Broadway and Erie and walked a block to the 650 N. Dearborn address, and then, lo and behold, just a few paces South from the Southeast corner of Erie and Dearborn, were "the basement stairs", and there was Glenn on the door! Is that good or what!

Monday night and Joanna Woods was entertaining while hosting the Open Mic. Rachael was behind the bar and just in case you wanted more, Lonie got up with South Side and did a couple of Janis Joplin songs before it turned midnight.

Lonie is a Chicago live music treasure.

Let it shine!

  1. I’m always happy to see venue owners keep on keeping on, especially considering all the politics involved. In a city that is more and more losing touch with it’s very soul, it’s always refreshing to see there are still those folks keeping it real.

  2. Where there is a will, there is a way!

  4. My Momma told me that if you remember the 60′s, you weren’t really there. Oh, who am I kidding…some of my best education about life came about in the 60′s…Peace, Love and Wonder. How appropriate that Lonie’s club is The Wonder Bar. Wherever you go, there you are…GO FOR IT, Lonie!
